La Asociación Cubana de Traductores e Intérpretes
ACTI, the Cuban Association of Translators and Interpreters, founded in 1994, is an active member of FIT since 2002, with a member on FIT Council since 2014. As a pivotal founding member of FIT Latin America Regional Centre, ACTI works closely with other associations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Experienced at organizing well-attended events for practitioners across the region, ACTI also maintains close working ties with academic, cultural, and commercial bodies, both regional and international, such as Translation and Interpreting Services Team (ESTI), the Centre for specialised Translation and Terminology (CTTE), The Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Havana (FLEX-UH), the Editorial José Martí Publishing House, UNESCO Regional Office, INTERTEXT, The Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association (NFF), The College of Certified Translators Buenos Aires (CTPBA), and The Order des Traducteurs, Terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ).
La Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs
FIT (the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs/International Federation of Translators) is a federation of associations, with membership consisting of over 85 professional associations of all types of interpreters, translators, and terminologists working in areas as diverse as literary, scientific and technical spheres, the public service, court and legal settings, conference interpreters, media and diplomatic fields and academia. FIT has Regular, Observer and Associate member categories.
Working together, associations benefit from both local and international activities coordinated by a federation with global presence and established connections. Activities at an international level provide benefits that would be difficult for a national association to achieve on its own.
The goal of the Federation is to promote professionalism in the disciplines it represents. It seeks constantly to improve conditions for the profession in all countries and to uphold translators’ rights and freedom of expression.
To be the global voice of associations of translators, terminologists and interpreters around the world
A united, sustainable, recognised profession to fulfil the expanding global need for translation
The values underpinning FIT processes, actions and interactions are:
FIT
International Federation of Translators
The voice of associations of translators, terminologists and interpreters around the world
